This medication is typically used to manage a transplant rejection. Even though you may not feel its effects, this medication takes effect within a few hours.
This medication is typically used only once a day. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Take it regularly and continuously to maintain its beneficial effects.
Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. To ensure exact dosage, measure each dose with an accurate measuring device.
If you forget a dose, take it as soon as you remember -- unless it is almost time for your next dose. In that case, skip the missed dose. Do not double the next dose to catch up. Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice during your treatment. Grapefruit can seriously affect how this medication works.
In addition to its desired action, this medication may cause some side effects, notably:
Keep this product in the refrigerator and do not allow it to freeze. Keep it out of reach of young children. Once opened, the product must be used within 30 days. Any unused portion should be discarded.
Taking this medication during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method during treatment and for several months after the end of it. Ask your healthcare professional for details.
Blood tests must be done regularly while using this medication. A blood test will indicate whether your treatment is having the desired effect. It will also provide the necessary information for adjusting the dosage to the lowest effective dose, thus decreasing the risk of side effects. Be sure to keep all your appointments.
Blood donation is usually refused during this treatment.
